ok, don't get disheartened by the title of this post, i have just spent about 45 minutes looking at 4 blog sites as part of my emoderating course, and i am really excited by some of the information out there. blog land is not the hell i thought it might be, but actually an area populated by intelligent people with some real information to share and discuss. and it has opened up the potential for me to see how blogs could be used within an educational setting/role. i really liked this site:

it opened up for me the potential for informed debate and questioning of developments in elearning, for instance web 2.0, as well as providing relevant links to papers and other sources. its well put together and informative. the second site:

was good as a resource 'library' covering e learning tools for the educator within this environment, a site to peruse and use i guess over time when needed. it seems like the first site, using these sites can lead to other areas of interests, much the same way, when i first used the internet, before i got into treading the same well worn web sites urls. the third and fourth sites based at the uni; http://sle102.blogspot.com/ & http://r-p-e.blogspot.com/
interested me in exploring how other lecturers are using blogs to enable communication with students and stir up debate around issues and the like. the rpe blog made me want to join the course! i could see how the blogs especially the rpe blog are creating community and actively pursuing knowledge in another forum (online). all of these blogs have made me realise some of the potential for using a blog to further create a better sense of community with students and to bridge that lecturer- student relationship. i think that i might be encouraged to try this out in the next academic year with a level 1 module especially, and see if i can create a space that is communicative, active, able to disseminate information and as a platform for students to blog about issues, thoughts to do with the module subject matter. mmmm.... however, like all things, how much more work and time heavy will the emoderating be for a blog? i am sure that the learning curve will be steep but it'll be a challenge to try and test, the future is here (apparently).
